In December of 2016, my father suddenly passed away after a heart attack at the age of 55. While it was certainly shocking and devastating, I did not react the way most would when a loved one passes away suddenly. I always knew I wanted to write a piece in his memory, but it took months to even be able to begin writing the piece. I knew I didn’t want the piece to be a somber ballad, or a cheesy celebration of his life, I wanted it to be a real, painful piece full of emotion. This piece is the result of all of the emotions that I went through dealing with my father’s death as well as my personal battle of how I was grieving.
